Turning a webcam into a see-through infrared cam

IR photos

A few photos taken with the modded IR cam. The photos are blurry and the quality is low (thats a trademark of Logitech quickcam)

Night vision ! I shot a beam of infrared from the TV remote onto my hands and shot this pic in perfect darkness!

See through capability! On the left is a shot from a newspaper. I completely striked out a heading text with a permanent marker. As you can see, it is impossible to read. And on the right is a closeup shot of the same text. But the IR cam saw through the Ink and the text can be clearly read, "The Peace Maker" !

I increased the 'gamma' option in the QuickCam program settings. The image in the left is my hand in darkness. The right image is when I rubbed my fingers together, that made my palm warm. Notice that the fingers appear brighter and clearer in the right image

A closeup shot of a label on my CPU, in the dark. The word "Coloreal" can be clearly read

This is a TV remote, with a button pressed. When the button is pressed, an ifrared beam is shot out. The IR cam clearly detects and shows the infrared rays

A plug in the darkness. In the right image, the same plug, but I pointed a TV remote at it and shot out an ifrared beam

A burning candle. The usual tiny little yellow flame has been illuminated and the rays can be seen at a wide radius

A hot ironbox. The edges can be seen illuminated
